Dynasystems lifts the veil on the fake ‘Pipe Towers’ putting lives at risk

31st May 2018

Today Dynasystems joins the Nuclear Industry Safety Directors Forum in raising awareness to mitigate the very real dangers of Counterfeit, Fake and Suspect Items (CFSI) in the Defence and Commercial supply chain.

Very relevant to Dynasystems are ‘pipe towers’ that have been designed to resemble the genuine product, the Dynatower.  These towers are simply made from concrete water pipes that are stacked vertically so lack the numerous features and capabilities that ultimately make the Dynatower fit for purpose, not only in design and construction, but to the exacting standards of logistics and assembly in some of the World’s most hostile locations. These fake towers can’t offer anywhere near the same levels of protection from a blast or ballistic attack and are continuously dangerous to anyone within or near them as they are inherently unstable and can collapse without warning.

Paul Gaston, a Director of Dynasystems, says “We are very worried that the drive for financial economies is allowing unscrupulous companies to supply substandard products that put lives at risk. We subject our products to live fire tests, not computer modelling, as approved by NATO, US TSWG and UK MOD so that we know exactly what they are capable of withstanding.”

About Dynatower

The Dynatower is a blast and ballistic resistant watch tower constructed from precast modular units, each with its own characteristics. The modular tower can be installed quickly and redeployed for use in different operations and applications, offering turn-key solutions for advanced perimeter security. The blast resistant Dynatower incorporates innovative force protection systems and technologies such as high-grade proprietary concrete mixtures, energy-diverting shapes, energy-absorbing blast-resistant windows and secure surveillance and health systems.

The basic Dynatower can be upgraded with the addition of a variety of equipment such as machine gun mounts, firing ports and air-conditioning units. Rooftop access allows for the installation of other equipment such as automated machine gun mounts, long range scanning devices and networked communications equipment.

Dynatowers have undergone continuous testing and development in live fire exercises to ensure its reliability and personnel safety. These tests have been conducted in accordance with the standards, methods and practices approved by NATO, US Government’s Technical Support Working Group and the UK Ministry of Defence.
